PULMONOLOGY HOSPITAL

Project area is located within the Historical City Walls World Heritage site. To the north of the area lies the Cemetery, which forms a dense greenery within the urban fabric, while to the east stands the existing Pulmonolgy Hospital campus. The Historical City Walls, extending in a north-south axis, sits 240 meters west of the area, with its southern end connected to the park.

The alignment along the park has served as a significant reference for the placement of the Building. As an extension of this urban recreational space, the building has been pulled out accordingly to create an open space niche. An open amphitheater and landscape arrangements along the street edge define the entrance, with the polyclinic entrance associated with this area, anticipated to experience heavy foot traffic throughout the day.

Taking advantage of the topography within the project area, the main hospital entrance, linked to the existing health campus, is defined at an elevation of +5.00, oriented towards the west, featuring a high and wide canopy.

Approaches serving programs such as Emergency and Technical Units, and the Morgue, are situated at a level of -5.00 on the eastern part of the project area, ensuring direct access to the street connecting to the main road.

Pullouts, horizontal and vertical mass movements, and the predominant use of transparent facades at the ground level help mitigate the structural perception, ensuring harmony with the surrounding context. The building presents a welcoming effect to public use with a gentle angle towards the main approach direction. A warm ambiance is achieved through the use of selected materials prioritizing simplicity within a rhythmic and minimalist arrangement on the facade.

Consisting of 3 basement levels, 3 floors establishing connections with different elevations from the ground, and an additional 3 floors above, the total construction area of the building is 131,655 m². The hospital structure is designed to accommodate 400 beds. The Technical Service Unit Structure, with a separate entrance at the -5.00 level, integrates seamlessly with the remaining part of the building at the basement levels.
